French surgeon. First surgeon and confidant of King Louis XIV. He treated other great figures of the court, notably Racine. In 1731, he founded, with François Gigot de Lapeyronie, the Royal Academy of Surgery, which would later become the National Academy of Surgery, organizer of our Meetings. Despite the absence of Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin and email accounts, he created the largest network of surgeons in the world – some of his heirs will be present at our Strasbourg Meetings.
